'The River' Main Cast and Characters

Emmet Cole was a beloved, vivacious TV personality who spent 22 years teaching viewers about wildlife through his documentary show The Undiscovered Country. On his last excursion, however, he left his usual party -- his family and film crew -- behind and headed out on his own into the Amazon with a new crew in tow, only to vanish without a trace. Were the secrets he was hiding from his family an indication that Emmet wasn't quite the model citizen and family man he appeared to be on television?

Leslie is Emmet's wife, a woman whose love for adventures and the outdoors drew her to her husband and led her to regularly appear with him on The Undiscovered Country. Driven and strong-willed, she's determined to find Emmet when his emergency beacon goes off six months after his disappearance.

Lincoln is Emmet's estranged son who is ready to accept his dad's death and move on with his life after he's been missing for six months. However, at his mother's urging, he reluctantly agrees to go search for Emmet, leaving a promising career in medicine to do so. He's spent most of his life on camera, accompanying his parents on their televised adventures, but he came to resent them for depriving him of a normal childhood. Lincoln was once very close to Lena Landry, the daughter of Emmet's longtime cameraman, but they've grown apart in recent years.

The son of Emmet's longtime cameraman Russ Landry, who disappeared with the TV host, Lena is as much an adventurer at heart as Emmet was. Always willing to steer off the beaten path, she was more than willing to stay on The Undiscovered Country after her then-best friend Lincoln left. As much as she cares for Emmet, she's along on the rescue mission to find her beloved father.

Clark is Emmet's longtime producer, whom Emmet mysteriously fired shortly before his last fateful expedition. Ever cagey, Clark has convinced Tess to allow him to film the rescue mission in order to pay for the risky endeavor, but are hi interests more business or personal?

Kurt is the hired gun for the rescue mission, brought on board to protect the crew from the jungle threats. The no-nonsense German is a man of mystery, speaking little and not revealing much about his background, but his cold demeanor aside, he seems dedicated to the task at hand and is genuinely concerned about the welfare of his people.

A.J. is the lead cameraman for the rescue mission. He's experienced at working in the wilderness but has never worked with Emmet or Clark before, so there are questions as to why Clark chose him. But A.J., brash and brimming with confidence, will be the first to let you know he's the best in the business and will do whatever it takes to get the shot.

Emilio worked with Emmet for most of the run of The Undiscovered Country, serving as the reliable mechanic for Emmet's ship The Magus. A hard worker, he was hired by Emmet shortly after being released from prison, and he remains humble and grateful for the opportunity years later. However, Emmet's decision to take the ship on his ill-fated trip without Emilio puzzled and upset him and he's curious to find out why. He's a loving father but is overprotective of his daughter Jahel and feels a bit guilty that his job has cause him to miss some of the important moments in her life.

Jahel, Emilio's teenage daughter, was born during the run of The Undiscovered Country. She's inherited his gift for mechanics, but he won't allow her to work on ships with him because he doesn't trust the type of men she would be around. But secretly she has a rarer gift, an intuitive one that allows her to see beyond this world into the next.
