What's Coming Out This Week?

By , About.com Guide

In what could be a "legendary" week of horror releases, we have everything from Will Smith's latest theatrical blockbuster to a slew of low-budget DVD slashers.

I Am Legend

In the lone theatrical horror release of the week, Will Smith stars in this third big-screen adaptation of Robert Matheson's post-apocalyptic novel I Am Legend (following 1964's The Last Man on Earth and 1971's The Omega Man). Smith is the latest actor to attempt to cure the nocturnal masses of their vampire-like ways, following in the footsteps of Vincent Price, Charlton Heston and Charlton Heston's barrel chest.

7 Murders for Scotland Yard

© Jef Films
A 1971 Spanish interpretation of the Jack the Ripper tale, also known as Jack el Destripador de Londres.

Bikini Bloodbath

© Video Music
A "gore comedy" about a killer chef and a slumber party full of high schoolers...presumably in bikinis. Cult icon Debbie Rochon stars.

Blood Descendants

© Maverick/Creep FX
Is Jacob Bradford the next great horror villain? Judge for yourself as he rises from the grave to exact revenge upon those who killed him a century ago. (A little late, if you ask me.)

Footsteps

© Unearthed
A British import about a hermit obsessed with snuff films. Invite the family!

Hack!

A teen slasher spoof starring Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years!

Masters of Horror: The V Word

© Starz/Anchor Bay
This episode of the acclaimed TV series, directed by Ernest Dickerson of Demon Knight and Bones fame, features a couple of video game geeks who discover that a vampire is haunting the local funeral home.

Silent Night, Deadly Night [Uncut]

© Starz/Anchor Bay
The controversial 1984 Santa slasher that mothers across America protested receives the "uncut" treatment.

Tales of Terror: The Collection - From Tokyo and All Over Japan

© Tokyo Shock
A four-disc set of scary stories from Japan. You can be sure that a pale female ghost with long, dark hair hanging over her face will make an appearance at some point.

Undead or Alive

© Image Entertainment
Chris Kattan of Saturday Night Live and James Denton of Desperate Housewives flee from a zombie posse in this comedy-horror-western.

The Undertaker and His Pals

© Cheezy Flicks
A grisly cult comedy from 1966 about an undertaker who strikes a deal with two restaurant owners to drum up business. They start killing people so that the cooks can use the body parts in meals while the undertaker can bury the rest. Mo' money!
