Premise:
Allison DuBois seems like a normal suburbanite with a loving husband and three young daughters, but in fact, she has very special abilities. Since she was a child, she's been able to see the dead and to see visions of the past, present and future. While studying to become a lawyer, an internship in the district attorney's office triggers visions of what really happened in the criminal cases that come through the office. She eventually lands a job as DA Devalos' "special consultant" and struggles on a case-by-case basis to overcome others' doubt of her abilities -- including frequent collaborator Detective Lee Scanlon. Allison's visions usually come to her in her dreams, meaning that her understanding husband Joe is often dragged in as a sounding board. Complicating matters is the fact that the dreams aren't usually straightforward and thus serve as puzzle pieces that must be rearranged and deciphered in order to solve the mystery.
