Mother's Boys (1994)
In this Fatal Attraction for mommies, a woman (Jamie Lee Curtis) who abandoned her kids returns years later when her ex-husband decides to marry someone else. This dull melodrama has nothing new to add to the "psycho stalker" genre -- except for some icky incestuous overtones.
Serial Mom (1994)
No one in this delicious John Waters satire dare even think of stealing this perfect suburban mom's parking space or chewing gum in her presence. If you're lucky, she might just run you over with a car. Otherwise, you could find yourself on the wrong end of a leg of lamb.
Mommy (1995)
Patty McCormack, who portrayed the evil little girl in 1956's The Bad Seed, returns as an evil adult in the low-budget Mother's Day. She plays the perfectionist mother of a 11-year-old honor student whom she believes should receive the Student of the Year award. When the girl doesn't win, Mom ends up killing the teacher in charge...and then everyone who suspects she's the culprit. This shot-on-video thriller has the feel of Degrassi Junior High: Too Hot for TV. Somehow, someone saw fit to make a sequel in 1997.
Scream 2 (1997)
This tired retread of the original Scream brought out the whole "two killers" twist again, but this time, the mastermind behind the scheme wasn't a pimply-faced teen, but rather Mrs. Loomis, the mother of one of the first film's killers. Like her son, she too is a nut job.
Hush (1998)
In this silly, cliché-ridden thriller, Jessica Lange plays the mother-in-law from hell (Or is it Kentucky?) who seeks to erase her son's new wife (Gwyneth Paltrow) from the picture after she gives birth to a grandchild.
The Girl Next Door (2007)
Based on a true story, this mean-spirited film finds a crazy 1950s mother overseeing the rape and torture of her niece by her pre-pubescent sons and any neighborhood kids who happen to drop by.
Inside (2007)
A wannabe mother tries to take the unborn child of an expectant mother by any means necessary. But mostly with scissors. Grisly, shocking stuff from France.
