One of the biggest films of 2007, I Am Legend was the long-awaited big-budget adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, previously shot in 1971 as The Omega Man. Will Smith's star power virtually ensured it success, but few predicted it would beat The Lord of the Rings: The Return the King for the biggest December opening weekend ever.
