Bruce Campbell

Bruce Campbell is one of the most famous cult actors (oxymoron?) working today, having gained a rabid following through his role as the heroic Ash in the Evil Dead trilogy of films. He's furthered his underground status by starring in a series of campy, often straight-to-video releases, such as Alien Apocalypse, Terminal Invasion and Man With the Screaming Brain. He did star in the theatrical release Bubba Ho-tep, however, which featured a typical quirky Campbell storyline of an aging Elvis Presley battling an evil mummy in a nursing home. In true fringe style, Campbell has a knack for landing small roles in large movies, from the Spider-Man series to the Coen Brothers' Fargo and The Ladykillers to the superhero film Sky High and the Jim Carrey vehicle The Majestic. His typical starring role, as typified in the Evil Dead franchise, is that of a comedically cocky, yet still likeable hero, something Campbell parodies in his 2008 directorial feature My Name Is Bruce.
