This week, the thriller Surveillance opens in limited release, while DVDs are headed by Backwoods and Hobgoblins.
Backwoods
The good news: Haylie Duff and her coworkers go for a weekend paintball getaway in the woods. The bad news: the woods are inhabited by a violent, cult-ish family looking for women to use as breeders. The even-worse news: Haylie Duff survives.
Hobgoblins 2
Can you intentially make a bad movie and have it turn into a cult hit? That's what Rick Sloane attempts to do with Hobgoblins 2, the 2008 sequel to the legit cult film Hobgoblins, which seeks to recreate the awfulness of the original, from the special effects to the puppetry to even the '80s clothing.
Lady Revenge Grindhouse Double Feature
This two-pack of feminine revenge brings us Blown, the tale of a voodoo priestess whose spirit inhabits a blow-up doll, and Curse of La Llorona, in which the legendary Weeping Lady of Mexican folklore sets her sights on a young girl's soul.
Legend of the Bog
A 2000-year old mummy rises from the depths of a swampy area during a real estate dig.
Make Them Die Grindhouse Double Feature
This two movie set features the 1991 anthology Campfire Tales (not to be confused with the 1997 movie), in which a homeless man tells four campers scary stories, and Kiss Daddy Goodbye (AKA Caution, Children at Play), about a young brother and sister duo with telekinetic powers who raise their father from the grave to get revenge on his killers.
The Monster Squad Complete Collection
Not to be confused with the '80s cult hit movie, this short-lived 1976 TV show stars Fred "Gopher" Grandy of Love Boat fame as a geeky night watchman who brings to life wax statues of Dracula, the Wolf Man and Frankenstein's monser in order to help him fight crime.
Simon Says
A group of college kids on a camping trip (uh oh...) run into a pair of deranged twins (both played by Crispin Glover) who rig booby traps to ensnare the kids.
War Wolves
A team of Special Forces soldiers tracks one of their own who's been infected with a werewolf virus while fighting in the Middle East. Can you say Sci Fi Channel movie of the week?
