This week is a busy one for theatrical horror releases, with Saw V receiving a wide release and Passengers, Let the Right One In and Fear(s) of the Dark hitting a few venues each. On DVD, The Strangers and Trailer Park of Terror lead the way.
Passengers
A young therapist assigned to counsel the five survivors of a plane crash suspects that the patient she is falling for holds the key to what happened on the flight and what's behind the sudden disappearances of the other survivors.
Anaconda 3: Offspring
Any attempt to cure cancer in a horror movie invariably results in a giant mutated animal going on a rampage, and Anaconda 3 is no different. When a pair of snakes escape, there's only one man who can stop them: the Hoff.
Bride of the Monster (Color)
In this 1955 schock-fest (Now in color!), notorious director Ed Wood teamed up with horror icon Bela Lugosi, who portrays a mad scientist (Is there any other kind?) intent on creating an army of atomic supermen to do his bidding. His first task: win the Super Bowl.
Creature from the Haunted Sea (Color)
From prolific B-movie director Roger Corman comes this 1961 tale of American gangsters who sneak a group of Cuban exiles out of Cuba, then plot to kill the refugees and steal their money, blaming the deaths on a local sea monster. However, it turns out that the monster is in fact real -- and quite ridiculous.
Devil Bat (Color)
In this 1941 entry, Bela Lugosi stars as a scientist (mad, no doubt) who seeks revenge on his double-crossing ex-colleagues by breeding giant bats to kill them.
The Last Man on Earth (Color)
Vincent Price stars in this 1964 adaptation of the book I Am Legend -- later made into Charlton Heston's The Omega Man and Will Smith's I Am Legend -- about a man in a post-apocalyptic world populated by vampires.
The Lazarus Project
A man (Paul Walker) condemned to die by lethal injection wakes up to discover he's been given a second chance at life as a groundskeeper at a strange psychiatric hospital, where he's haunted by demonic visions.
