No theatrical horror releases this week, but Diary of the Dead leads an avalanche of 20-plus DVDs hitting shelves this week, giving you even less reason to venture outside of the house.
Anguish
This Spanish cult favorite from 1988 features a unique "film within a film" format in which a theater full of people watching a horror movie is stalked by a man hypnotized by the movie into killing members of the audience. Basically, how I feel during any 2 o'clock matinee.
Bloodspit
In this low-budget camp from Australia, a vampire hunters stalks -- and stakes -- a vampire named Count Bloodspit.

Bonejack's Splatter Platters
A five-pack of bare-"bones" gore films from director Chris Seaver, including such high-brow fare as Mulva 2: Kill Teen Ape!, Destruction Kings and Quest for the Egg Salad.
Bugs
Kind of like Mimic Lite, this Sci Fi Channel fare starring the made-for-Dancing With the Stars duo of Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Angie Everhart has the twosome battling giant man-eating bugs in the subway tunnels.
Darkest Hour
In this low-budget slasher, a group of college students hold a murder mystery party celebrating the anniversary of killings committed by a scythe-wielding maniac nicknamed the North Bend Reaper, but wouldn't you know it -- the killings start all over again! Silly kids, scythes are for killers!
Diary of the Dead
A group of filmmakers are caught in the middle of the woods during a zombie outbreak. Using their camera, they document the chaos while trying to avoid becoming victims themselves. Legendary director George Romero's latest, but not quite greatest, zombie effort.
Directed By Roger Corman
This 3-DVD set gathers 10 cult films that were, well, "directed by Roger Corman," including vintage horror like Bucket of Blood, The Wasp Woman, The Terror, Little Shop of Horrors and Creature from the Haunted Sea.
The Entrance
Based on the exorcism writings of 17th century prior Sebastien Michaelis, this story takes place in the present day and follows a drug dealer who escapes kidnappers and seeks the help of a police detective, drawing her into a contest with forces of the occult.
Eye
In this 1996 thriller, a female lawyer comes home to discover that a deranged man has kidnapped her daughter and has placed video cameras around her apartment to keep an eye on her and to make sure that she complies with his demand that she kill herself.
Grindhouse Classics
Nine exploitation films from the '70s, including Drive-In Massacre, She Demons, Scream Bloody Murder and Die Sister Die, are showcased in this set. Sleazy does it!
