The explicit French shocker Frontier(s) receives a VERY limited release (10 theaters, 3 days) this weekend before hitting DVD next week, while leading horror releases on video shelves THIS week is the "vagina dentata" exploration Teeth.
Frontier(s)
The French film deemed too hot for the 2007 After Dark Horrorfest finally sees the light of day in the US in its unrated glory. Four friends who've stolen a large amount of money head for the border but make the mistake of stopping at a motel run by a cannibalistic neo-Nazi family. Apparently, they didn't see the "Nazi/No Nazi" sign.
Abominable
Rear Window meets a creature feature in this tale of a wheelchair-bound man in a remote cabin who witnesses Bigfoot attacks outside his window. One of the best monster movies of the past decade, Abominable is well-executed, quick-paced and surprisingly gory. Think of it as Harry Eats the Hendersons.
Bloodsucking Babes from Burbank
In this campy low-budget romp, a group of sexy female archeology students (?) mining the rich hills of Burbank, California (??) discover a mysterious box that turns them into vampiric cannibals (That actually makes the most sense.).
The Car
In this 1977 cult favorite, a mysterious black car with an anonymous driver mows down pedestrians in a small Western town, prompting residents to build some freakin' sidewalks.
Devil Times Five
Five psychotic children escape from a mental institution and are taken in by a group of unsuspecting adults who don't live to tell the tale. An overlooked gem from 1974.
The Forest
This cheap, cheesy 1983 slasher finds campers hunted by a cave-dwelling cannibal who's killed his own kids. The kids, however, have something to say about that...
Frightworld
A group of friends throw a party in an abandoned amusement park called Frightworld and unknowingly raise the spirit of a maniacal killer who goes about possessing their bodies in order to continue his killing spree. I'm sure they won't be missed.
Grizzly Rage
Notorious gay horror director David DeCoteau puts the shirtless beefcake on hold for this tale of a group of friends on a camping trip who accidentally run over a grizzly cub and must face the wrath of its mother. It's Orca on land...with claws...and fur...and ears.
It Came from the Lake
Also known as Monstroid, this is one of those cautionary pollution tales from the '70s, with a Loch Ness Monster-styled creature raised by industrial pollution teaching us to give a hoot -- don't pollute.
Kill the Scream Queen
Women lured by an Internet ad seeking models for a fake snuff film find, to their dismay, that the film's not so fake after all. Never trust anything you read on the Internet. Except for About.com, of course.
