Jessica Alba leads the way for theatrical releases this week with her remake of The Eye, while Shrooms scores a VERY limited release. It's a big week on DVD, with the Nicole Kidman-Daniel Craig vehicle Invasion and more than a dozen other assorted goodies (and a few baddies) heading to video shelves.
Greenhouse Gore Two-Fer
Botanical horror fetishists, rejoice! The Gardener (1975) features a sinister gardener who casts a supernatural spell over the woman who hires him. In The Freakmaker (1974), a mad scientist (Is there any other kind?) breeds humans with plants.
The Invasion
This incarnation of the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers was the first of two big-budget disappointments in 2007 (along with The Golden Compass) starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
Lake Placid 2
Maybe they'll change the name of the lake after this outbreak of giant crocodile munchies.
Punk Rock Holocaust 2
A headless serial killer targets punk rock bands, stealing the heads of his victims to replace his own.
Right at Your Door
A radioactive bomb is unleashed in Los Angeles, causing people there to become even more selfish, self-absorbed and paranoid than they already are.
Tragic Ceremony
In this 1972 Italian gore-fest, a bunch of hippies stumble upon a satanic sacrifice, with no munchies in sight!
The Unknown Trilogy
This horror anthology features a trio of stories, one about a gambler, one about a boy's fear of a funeral parlor and the third about a grieving father.
