Wer Hopes to Revive Werewolf Movies

As ghosts, vampires and zombies continue to thrive at the box office, werewolves remain sorely under-represented (if you don't count the Twilight movies). In fact, the last good werewolf movie to hit theaters was 2011's Red Riding Hood (although some would disagree with how "good" it is), and even that was hardly a hit. Wer seems to have as much box office potential as any in recent memory, in part because it utilizes the hot "found footage" format to tell its tale of a lawyer's attempt to prove that her enigmatic client is innocent of a vicious murder...only to find that he has a hairy, wolfy side.

The trailer looks promising, even if the film comes from the director of the dismal found footage exorcism movie The Devil Inside. January has become a popular time to release horror movies (The Devil Inside, for instance), so it's surprising that there's no release date yet for Wer, but I would still expect it to hit theaters sometime in the first quarter of 2014.
