Those of you hoping to see further big-screen adaptations of the Caster Chronicles books may want to lower your expectations...a whole lot. That's because Beautiful Creatures, based on the first book in the young adult series, tanked at the box office this past weekend, opening with a meager $7.6 million, despite playing on nearly 3,000 screens. That was good enough for only sixth place, trailing not only fellow romance Safe Haven, but also Warm Bodies, which is displaying remarkable staying power in its third week in release. While Beautiful Creatures didn't have a blockbuster-sized budget -- reportedly $60 million -- it's unlikely it will turn a profit (at least domestically) until it hits home video...if then. So unfortunately, it seems equally unlikely there will be a sequel.

This would look a whole lot better as a CW series.
It would be a perfect fit right behind ‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’.
Besides,SUPERNATURAL is starting to look a little tired, and
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES would be just the right breath of fresh
air for the CW.
