Despite the uneven track records of horror remakes, I'm looking forward to the Carrie remake, so it's a bit disappointing to hear that it's been pushed back a whopping seven months, from March all the way to October 18. It's understandable, though, for a couple of reasons: 1) It's Halloween season (Duh), and 2) Sony (and its subsidiaries) already has another horror remake -- Evil Dead -- coming out in the spring, so I can see the wisdom of not wanting to release them a month apart, when they could potentially eat into each other's profit.
That leaves March pretty wide open as far as major horror movies go, with The Last Exorcism Part II (and possibly Stoker) as the only wide release. With its move to October, Carrie will now face off against Paranormal Activity 5, which comes out a week later. In the meantime, if you see something called The Carrie Diaries on The CW, don't get your hopes up...
