The Collection Falls Flat at Box Office

As expected, The Collection failed to make much noise at the box office this past weekend, falling pretty much in line with its predecessor The Collector. It earned an estimated $3.4 million, compared to The Collector's $3.58 million opening. Both films had similar release sizes -- around 1,300 to 1,400 screens -- technically "wide" but only about half (or even a third) of many major releases. If it continues on The Collector's trajectory, The Collection should earn around $7 to 8 million total, not quite breaking even with its estimated $10 million budget.
