While it didn't "break" New Moon's opening weekend record of highest November opening ever, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 did just fine, raking in $141 million. That figure would make it the #8 all-time opening weekend, just behind New Moon and just ahead of Breaking Dawn Part 1. Where it "eclipsed" the others in the Twilight franchise is in its foreign ticket sales, where it racked up nearly $200 million, making it the only one it the series in the list of top 10 overseas openings.
Breaking Dawn Part 2's success was predictable; what's less predictable is how long studio executives will resist the urge to squeeze another sequel (Prequel? Reboot? Spinoff? Musical variety show?) out of this cash cow.
