Same movie, less massacre? The film formerly known as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D -- conceived as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's original movie -- has a new poster, revealing not only a host of Leatherface's victims, but more importantly, what seems to be a new, more concise title: Texas Chainsaw 3D. I can only imagine this change came about as the result of some focus group and the perceived lack of mainstream appeal of the term "massacre," but really, how mainstream can a movie about a murdering clan of cannibals who sometimes wear the skinned faces of their victims be?
On the other hand, maybe Lionsgate just thought it would be snappier and easier to Tweet. Whatever the reason, I can't say I agree with the decision, but as long as the movie's good, they can call it North Dakota Trowel Bludgeoning for all I care. Look for TC3D to hit theaters on January 4, 2013.
