Veteran filmmaker Walter Hill (48 Hrs., The Warriors), who's been on a decade-long hiatus from feature film directing since 2002's Undisputed, is making up for lost time, recently completing the Sylvester Stallone actioner Bullet to the Head and now reportedly hard at work on a remake of the classic 1962 Bette Davis-Joan Crawford psychological thriller What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?. According to Deadline, Hill plans not only to direct, but to write the script -- about the twisted relationship between two faded Hollywood starlet sisters -- as well.
Whether or not you think a remake is necessary (I'll go out on a limb and guess "not."), it will be interesting to see how Hill, who generally specializes in testosterone-driven action, will handle a film starring a pair of senior citizen women, and more importantly, who he and the producers will find to fill the immense shoes of Davis and Crawford.
