It's been rumored to be in the works several times in the 11 years since Jurassic Park III hit theaters, but now it appears that Jurassic Park IV is finally on track to becoming a reality. That's because the studio has tapped husband-and-wife writing team Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, fresh off the success of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, to pen the script.
Jaffa and Silver, who've pretty much come out of nowhere -- given their previous screenwriting effort was way back on 1997's The Relic -- are currently working on the Apes sequel, so with that commitment and the fact that the original Jurassic Park is scheduled for a 3-D re-release in July 2013, I wouldn't expect to see Jurassic Park IV before the summer of 2014. That would be a full 13 years since the last entry in the series and a whopping 21 years since the first film. Feeling old yet? There's no director attached yet, but Steven Spielberg reportedly will not helm this sequel and will serve only as executive producer.
