Not having seen footage from Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, it was hard to tell if the Johnny Depp-led adaptation of the classic vampire TV show would be a horror movie with comedy overtones (like the Burton-Depp Sleepy Hollow) or a comedy with horror overtones (like the big-screen version of The Addams Family). Now, with the release of the first trailer for the film, we have our answer: it's the latter. Despite the apparent lack of horror thrills, though, Dark Shadows looks like a fun fish-out-of-water tale with Depp as a 200-year-old vampire trying to adapt to life in the 1970s. Look for it in theaters starting May 11.

I had heard about the Dark Shadows movie being made with Depp years ago and was really looking forward to it. Now that it’s here and I’ve seen the trailer, I’m not so certain. This whole time I had been expecting a drama as the series had been. I wasn’t so thrilled with the trailer, but that’s not much to judge something on. This movie could either be funny or absolutely horrible. It’s 50-50 so far for me. We’ll see.
