Director James Wan and actor Patrick Wilson, who teamed for last year's surprise hit Insidious, are joining forces for another ghostly flick. The Conjuring, according to The Hollywood Reporter, follows "a husband and wife team of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career, spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse." Vera Farmiga (Orphan) will play the wife in the equation. The story is based on real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and their investigation of the legend of Bethesda Sherman, a witch who supposedly cursed anyone who took over her land after she died.
Unfortunately, the screenplay for The Conjuring wasn't written by Wan's longtime partner Leigh Whannell, who penned not only Insidious, but also Saw and Dead Silence. Instead, the script comes courtesy of brothers Chad and Carey Hayes, whose more dubious résumé includes Whiteout, House of Wax and The Reaping. Shooting on the film is targeted to begin in March, meaning you could see it in theaters at the end of the year -- bur more likely sometime in early 2013.
