Season 1 of FX's ghostly American Horror Story was one of the most unique seasons I've seen on television in a long time, but it certainly left us with the question of where the show goes from the shocking final episode. The question came soon enough: it will be an anthology series with new characters, settings and story lines each year. However, series co-creator Ryan Murphy teased that "two or three" of the cast members may return in new roles but didn't reveal which ones. Now we have a bit of clarification.
It appears that stars Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton, who played the unhappy husband and wife team of Ben and Vivien Harmon, are definitely out. Meanwhile, you'd imagine that the producers would want Jessica Lange (who played scheming neighbor Constance) to return -- considering her well-deserved Golden Globes win for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series, Miniseries or Movie can help raise the show's mainstream awareness -- and indeed, she is reportedly "considering" coming back. Evan Peters, who played Constance's troubled son Tate, has likewise expressed an interest in returning, and judging from his scene-stealing capabilities, hopefully he will do so.
That leaves a few primary cast members: Taissa Farmiga (who played Ben and Vivien's daughter Violet), Denis O'Hare (who played the physically scarred Larry Harvey) and Frances Conroy/Alexandra Breckenridge (who both played the undead maid Moira). Who do you think should return?

Without Evan Peters, there is no show. There are a multitude of directions that a story line revolving around his character could explore. There are way too many unanswered questions. How many siblings did he actually have, what happened to them, who are the twins? There’s alot of room for storytelling here, I would be crushed if he didn’t return.
Um… I want Kate Mara to come back. I thought she was awesome and she was nice to look at compared with the rest of the cast… I’ve never seen her before and I really like how she played a ghost… she totally took advantage of it and was loving it….
On another note, they all seem pretty emotionally and socially adjusted for being ghosts and being dead… I guess that’s because they can still have sex… i don’t know.

The show will be an ANTHOLOGY series, thus Evan Peters won’t be returning as the SAME character. It’s going to be a whole new show, completely unrelated to season one.

Its my understanding that Constance had 3 children, the thing in the attic, Tate, and the daughter Adelaide. Tate was shot by police, Adelaide killed in a car accident, and i don’t know how the child in the attic died, but i don’t think there is much interest in that unanswered question when following the Harmon storyline. And i believe it said the twins were neighbors who Tate killed when they went to the house to trick or treat.
In my opinion, there was nowhere else to go with this story. Unless we follow Mrs. Harmon’s and Tate’s devil child. I was curious how they were going to do a second season following the same Harmon storyline and keep it interesting. Who wants to watch episode after episode of the Harmons finding new ways to scare people out of the house? I love the way it ended and i like the idea of the series being an Anthology. I have faith season two will be just as good as season one.

I’m not sure where you got your information from, but just to clarify, Constance had 4 kids, one of which was never introduced to us. Beau, Constance’s other son, was smothered by Larry Harvey in one of the flashbacks of an episode so that he wouldn’t leave the house, and those two kids were killed in the house by ghosts, but not by Tate. They died in the 60’s before Tate was even born.

Well thank you for that. In any case, the questions Reeca felt were unanswered for the most part were answered and i don’t think there was anywhere else to go with that story line.

The third child if Constance was the one chained up and disfigured, she killed him herself.
Alexandra breckenridge without a doubt. without her I refuse to watch it.
