Nearly two years ago, it was reported that Steven Spielberg's studio DreamWorks was developing Stephen King's novel Under the Dome into a miniseries, and now that plan is moving closer to fruition -- sort of. It turns out that, like the force field that encloses a town inside a dome-like structure in the book, there won't be anything "mini" about the series. Showtime is developing Under the Dome as a full-fledged show, which shouldn't be too shocking given the novel runs over 1,000 pages long. (And frankly, if the SyFy series Haven can be based on the much shorter The Colorado Kid, there should be enough here for 5 shows.) A writer has yet to be hired, so don't expect to see the show anytime soon, but sometime in the latter half of 2012 certainly seems like a good possibility.
