Whether you're a true horror movie freak or a wannabe freak, there's a new book that you'll want to check out titled, appropriately enough, Horror Movie Freak. It's a gorgeous book with over 250 full-color pages highlighting the best that horror cinema has had to offer over the past 80 years or so.
Written by Don Sumner, founder of Best-Horror-Movies.com, Horror Movie Freak delves into the appeal of horror movies on various levels -- emotional, artistic, moral, visceral -- while neatly categorizing more than 130 films. We have everything from "Aberrations of Nature" to "Zombie Invasion," from black-and-white classics to torture porn, all detailed with a casual writing style that can draw in even the most casual genre viewer.
With very few exceptions (the remake of Thirteen Ghosts comes to mind), the recommendations are spot-on, and while most will be fairly expected for diehard horror fans, there are some nice lesser-known selections, like Splinter, Hell's Ground and Uzumaki. Even for hardcore fans, however, the sheer spectacle of the hundreds of high-quality photos included in Horror Movie Freak make it a must-have genre showcase. I only wish it were larger and in hard cover so it could be a more traditional (and more durable) coffee table book. Order your copy today at www.horrormoviefreak.com.
