After much speculation, Bill Condon, the Oscar-winning writer/director best known for the big-screen musicals Dreamgirls (which he wrote and directed) and Chicago (which he wrote), has officially signed on to direct Breaking Dawn, the final film in the Twilight saga. This might seem like a bit of an odd choice (granted, the Twilight films aren't exactly hardcore horror), but Condon actually has some surprisingly solid before-he-was-famous ties to horror, having written early '80s cult films Strange Behavior and Strange Invaders and having directed Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh in 1995.
I doubt we'll be seeing any musical numbers ("When you're a vamp, you're a vamp all the way...") in the final Twilight, but the question remains as to whether Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies or not, and if so, will Condon direct both? And seriously, can these actors continue to pass for teenagers through two more films?
