Evil Dead Returning to Theaters...to Build Buzz for Evil Dead 4?

Perhaps buoyed by the success of midnight screenings of Paranormal Activity, the creators of the gory 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead (including director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell) will be bringing the film back to theaters in 2010. They will be showcasing the movie at midnight showings in Landmark theaters across the US, plus Mayfair Cinema locations in Canada (and at other to-be-named spots) sometime next year. Other than the chance for fans to experience the film on the big screen, no ulterior motive has been announced for the re-release, but Evil Deadheads have to wonder if this isn't designed to help drum up excitement for a long-rumored remake or (hopefully) sequel.
