Predators Casting Shocker: Is Adrien Brody the New Arnold?

The Robert Rodrguez-produced "reboot" of the Predator franchise is taking an unexpected turn. Maybe it's a reflection of today's "kinder, gentler" nation, but the cast is starting to look like the proverbial 98-pound weaklings that the muscle men of the 1987 original (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, Carl Weathers) would kick sand on.

Case in point: Adrien Brody (The Pianist) has signed on to star, and Topher Grace (That '70s Show) is reportedly in negotiations to play a major role as...a serial killer? I'm not sure if Grace would be part of the squad of mercenaries, but the rest of the cast includes Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (The 4400), Walt Goggins (The Shield), Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn) and UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov.

Additionally, Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting that Derek Mears, who played Jason in the Friday the 13th reboot, has also been cast, but it's unclear what his role would be (a Predator perhaps?). We'll see how it all turns out when Predators hits theaters on July 9, 2010.
