Although the September 4th release of the Chris Pine vehicle Carriers is still being described as "wide" by BoxOfficeMojo.com and RottenTomatoes.com, it looks like it might not be THAT wide after all. Fangoria is reporting that the pandemic thriller won't be going to at least two major metropolitan areas -- Los Angeles and New York, the two cities that often are the only places where films with limited releases DO show. According to the article, Carriers will open in several other major cities -- Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Portland and St. Louis -- with perhaps more to be named later. Still, you have to wonder if avoiding LA and NYC is an indication of the studio's lack of confidence in the film, especially since it's already sat on the shelf for some time (and would likely still be there if Pine hadn't scored the starring role in Star Trek).
