Can Reaper Be Saved?

Ever since Reaper was relegated to mid-season replacement status in this its second season, the writing has been on the wall as far as the show's fate. It's long been assumed that it will be canceled, especially considering its abysmal ratings this season. However, The Hollywood Reporter is raising the possibility that the show, which has a (small) cult following, might return after all. Admittedly, the odds are slim, but there are two options for its return for a third season:
  1. It could be picked up by a cable channel. This option was floated around last year when Moonlight was canceled, as it was seemingly a good fit for the Sci Fi Channel, but that never came to fruition.
  2. It could turn into a syndicated show. This option has gained some traction in light of the CW's announcement that it would stop programming content on Sunday nights, allowing the affiliate stations to run syndicated programs.
Neither option seems likely, however, in part because of the show's cost and in part because the show's talent has already lined up other projects. Executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have signed a deal with 20th Century Fox's television syndication company, and actor Tyler Labine, who plays Sock, the show's breakout character, is already scheduled to star in the new Fox TV show Sons of Tucson. But hey, stranger things have happened. Look at According to Jim.

It was such a great, cute show. I truly hate that its been cancelled. Its so unigue. And its not like CW has anything good to put in its place. What a Melrose Place remake or a 90210 remake?
