Just in time for Mother's Day, Darren Lynn Bousman, director of
Saw II through
IV and
Repo! The Genetic Opera, is reportedly revisiting the 1980 satirical (I think) Troma flick...
Mother's Day! The story of a deranged mother who trains her two sons to be rapists and murderers, this might be the most obscure horror movie to be remade to date and is the latest strange choice in Bousman's career, which last included the odd horror/rock opera
Repo. Based on the plot provided by
The Hollywood Reporter, however, the "remake" sounds more like a sequel, with the twisted family having been kicked out of their house due to foreclosure:
The remake sees the villainous family return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
On the bright side, with a movie this obscure and mediocre, there won't be much backlash against a remake.
