Despite a vigorous marketing campaign,
The Haunting of Molly Hartley limped to a meager $6 million tally this past weekend, according to early estimates. Hopefully, this will nip the concept of "tween horror" in the bud before it even starts.
Saw V, meanwhile, managed around $10 million in its second week, which was good enough for third place behind (sigh)
High School Musical 3 and
Zack and Miri do something or another. In smaller releases,
Splinter managed a modest $10,000 or so on four screens, while
Eden Lake tanked with half that amount on twice as many screens.
My Name Is Bruce, though, opened with a strong $18,000-plus at only one theater. Final numbers are due late Monday.
