New Trailer for the Vampire Movie Twilight

The upcoming vampire movie Twilight, based on the successful series of young adult books by Stephanie Meyer, now has a glitzy new trailer. The big-budget production about human-vampire teen lovers stars Kristen Stewart (The Messengers) and is directed by Catherine Hardwick, who's already gotten in touch with her inner teen helming Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown. With a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter...Let's overlook the fact that she also wrote Step Up.), Twilight is that rare blockbuster that stars a woman, is directed by a woman, has a screenplay written by a woman and is based on a novel written by a woman. It's ladies' twilight!

I haven't read any of the books (three so far, with the fourth coming in August), but I imagine that Twilight is expected to do much better than last year's similarly themed star-crossed werewolf book-turned-movie Blood and Chocolate. We'll see when it opens December 12, 2008.

I’m really worried about the possibility of this movie being screwed up and twisting the actual story in the book. I saw the teaser trailer and already in that theres a change in location when on of the very memorable lines are stated. So if there are mistakes in the trailer, how bad is the movie going to be?

Amey – I haven’t read the book, so I can’t comment on that, but what do you think of the trailer other than the changed scene location? Do you like the casting?

Actually, the release date has been moved back to November 21, following the announcement of the Harry Potter 6 setback. For those of you who haven’t read these books yet, beware. They are utterly intoxicating. I’ve read all four about 4 times each!
