A pair of slasher remakes scheduled for early 2009 have made major casting moves lately, according to The Hollywood Reporter. First, the Friday the 13th "reboot," scheduled for release on February 13 (a Friday, natch), is in final talks with Supernatural's Jared Padalecki (right) to star as an investigator looking into the goings-on at Crystal Lake. He's a good actor, but frankly, I think his Supernatural co-star, Jensen Ackles, has more charisma. Who knows, though; maybe Padalecki has a bigger following because of his stint on Gilmore Girls...not that I ever watched it or anything. I've just heard.

More definite is Jaime King's (left) role as the heroine in the My Bloody Valentine remake, scheduled for January 23. She'll play Sarah Palmer, who, true to the original, is caught in a love triangle between her ex and her current man (although in the remake, she's married with a kid, making things a bit more sticky). Of course, all differences must be put aside when a killer miner starts taking people's hearts. Those wacky kids!
