Is Doomsday really horror? Maybe not, but it's close enough that its cracking of the box office top 10 this past weekend is reason to celebrate -- although, frankly, not that hardy. The film made under $5 million in fewer than 2,000 theaters, for a so-so per-theater average of around $2,500. A lack of big-name stars and perhaps confusion over its genre might've hurt business. That said, Doomsday far outpaced Funny Games, which showed on under 300 screens and managed only around $500,000, for a not-so-funny sub-$2,000 average.
