Don't Be Scared of The Signal, People!
The final numbers are in for this past weekend's box office, and it doesn't look good for The Signal. Even for a limited release (160 theaters), it had a dismal debut, with only about $145,000 in box office receipts -- or an average of barely $900 per theater. To put that into perspective, it opened in five more theaters than I Am Legend is currently playing in and still made less money than Legend did in its 11th week of release. ELEVENTH!
Maybe people are taking the viral marketing campaign a bit too seriously and are genuinely concerned that they'll have their brains scrambled if they see The Signal. If that's the case, don't worry; just wrap some tin foil around your head and roll on out to the theater, people! We lose our right to complain about crappy, big-budget studio horror movies if we don't support smaller, quality flicks like this one. Do you want to be responsible for I Know Who Killed Me 2?
