Fear Itself Directors Revealed!

Thursday February 14, 2008
Masters of HorrorMost people would consider NBC's primetime lineup scary enough, but this summer, the fear quotient will be upped exponentially when the show Fear Itself airs. Basically, after Showtime declined to pick up a third season of Masters of Horror, NBC stepped in, picked it up and -- probably due to some legal mumbo jumbo -- changed its name to Fear Itself. The product is the same, except presumably less graphic since it's on network TV -- although really, have you seen what they get away with on CSI? NBC has ordered 13 episodes, and while it remains to be seen if they all get made, the first seven directors have been revealed! According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, they are (in alphabetical order):
  • Brad Anderson (Session 9, Masters of Horror episode "Sounds Like," the upcoming Transsiberian)
  • John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, Masters of Horror episodes "Cigarette Burns" and "Pro-Life")
  • Ernest Dickerson (Bones, Demon Knight, Masters of Horror episode "The V Word")
  • Breck Eisner (upcoming remakes of The Crazies and Creature From the Black Lagoon)
  • Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, Masters of Horror episodes "Dreams in the Witch-House" and "The Black Cat")
  • Mary Harron (American Psycho)
  • Ronny Yu (Bride of Chucky, Freddy vs. Jason)

It's a good thing they changed the show's title, because it's a stretch to call someone like Breck Eisner -- who hasn't even completed a horror movie yet (unless you count Sahara) -- a horror master. Otherwise, I can't wait! Lions Gate Entertainment is co-producing the series and will likely issue the episodes (hopefully full of uncut nastiness) on DVD.
