Magnolia Pictures Gets Punched
Monday February 11, 2008
Artsy-fartsy Magnolia Pictures, who's established a nice reputation releasing limited-run horror flicks like Severance, The Host, Murder Party, Shrooms and the upcoming The Signal, has acquired the rights to Donkey Punch. The British thriller, named after a sexual maneuver best left to the imagination, follows a yachting trip thrown into turmoil after a freak accident. The film just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and should see a limited theatrical release later this year through Magnolia's new Magnet Releasing division, which specializes in horror and "genre" (i.e., not artsy-fartsy) films.
Fun fact: Magnolia Pictures is co-owned by Mark Cuban of Dallas Mavericks and Dancing With the Stars fame! Do with that as you wish.
