My Bloody Valentine: The Remake Train Continues Full Steam Ahead

Wednesday January 30, 2008
My Bloody ValentineCheck another competent yet unspectacular flick off the list of '80s slashers that haven't been remade by the Hollywood machine. While new versions of both Prom Night and April Fool's Day arrive this spring (the former in theaters, the latter on DVD), a remake of Canadian slasher My Bloody Valentine has been tapped for a 2009 release. According to Lions Gate Entertainment, the remake will hit theaters on February 13, 2009; granted, April Fool's Day was originally thought to be a theatrical release, too.

With a remake of Terror Train planned for later this year (although it's supposedly been altered to the point that it's no longer an official remake), the ranks of the second-tier slashers seem to have been pretty much picked clean. We can only hope that Hollywood won't make its way down to the third tier, because nobody wants to see a remake of Dr. Giggles.

I live near the Fort Pitt Motel in Oakdale PA and can verify that they were filming here this past weekend. They were using road markers with two Cupids on them to give direction to the site. Fort Pitt Motel in Oakdale was made up as the “Thunderbird Motel”
