Legendary Italian horror director Dario Argento (Suspiria, Deep Red), whose Mother of Tears opens in limited release this February, will next shoot an English-language giallo called, appropriately enough, Giallo. A giallo is, in simplified terms, a stylish, artsy Italian slasher. Gialli predated early North American slashers like Black Christmas and Halloween by a decade or more, but these films are still little known in mainstream American society. Maybe an American giallo will change that... Then again, the movie is set to star Vincent Gallo, who is to the box office what magnifying glasses are to ants.
